Where to?

18+ only

Responsible Gaming

Gaming should be entertainment, never a way to make money. A few habits help keep it that way.

For adults only

You must be 18 or over to gamble. It’s also your responsibility to check that online gaming is allowed where you live.

If you share your phone with anyone under 18, log out when you’re done and don’t let the browser save your password.

Good habits

Play with limits

  • Set a money limit first. Decide how much you can afford to lose before you start, and stop when it’s gone.
  • Set a time limit. Use your phone’s alarm or screen-time settings so a quick session doesn’t turn into hours.
  • Never chase losses. Trying to win back what you lost usually means losing more. Accept the loss and stop.
  • Take regular breaks. Step away, drink some water, talk to someone. Come back later, or not at all.
  • Keep it separate from bills. Don’t gamble with money meant for rent, food or loans, and never borrow to play.

Gambling won’t fix money problems. If you’re under money pressure, that’s the time to stop, not to play more.

Warning signs

When it stops being fun

Be honest with yourself. Any of these is a sign to take a step back.

  • You spend more money or time than you planned, again and again.
  • You gamble to win back losses or to escape stress.
  • You hide your gambling from family or friends.
  • You borrow money, or skip bills, to keep playing.
  • You feel restless, anxious or irritable when you try to cut down.
  • Gaming gets in the way of work, study, sleep or the people close to you.

Getting help

You don’t have to sort it out alone

Reaching out early makes things easier. There’s nothing to be ashamed of.

  • Talk to someone you trust, like a family member, friend or religious leader.
  • Reach out to a local counselling or support service, or ask your doctor where to find one near you.
  • Use any limit or break tools the site you play on offers, and ask its customer service about them.
  • Take a proper break. Log out, delete your saved links and shortcuts, and give yourself time away.

If you need help right now

If you feel unsafe or overwhelmed, contact your local emergency services or go to the nearest hospital straight away.
